Derold Page was born in 1947 in South Africa
Having a succesful career in Interior Design , he then moved into fashion (making and hand painting special garments for celebrities) .
He relocated to England in 1976 for a quieter life and in order to paint
He has lived for over 40 years in a charming thatched cottage in rural Somerset
Exhibitions of his works in London and Rome were sellouts , and his paintings have been reproduced on posters , cards , CD covers , books and prints
He paints from his minds eye , expressing a gentle delight in life and a unity with nature , which gives added meaning to his creations .

"This painting is a further example in my series of painted birdsong, which over the years has challenged me; how to interpret sound visually. This painting inspired by Tagor poem (also it's title) "FAITH IS THE BIRD THAT FEELS THE LIGHT AND SINGS WHEN THE DAWN IS DARK ", a real challenge to paint a night time garden, and then to invent the bird's song.
Finally I used a scalpel to scrape away paint from the centre of the stars, causing them to wink and shine in a magical way. Naturally it needed to be photographed in it's silver-leaf frame, also necessary due to it's shape being it's resond'etre."
